What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday?? After an 8 year absence!!

Hello all!

So it's been 8 years since I last posted....  I've still been crafting a little bit but seem to have lost my mojo! We moved house over 5 years ago and I now have a lovely craft room that I rarely use!! So it's time to get back going, but I am a crafter who needs some inspiration to get the crafty vibes flowing! So I'm hoping a weekly nip around some crafty desks will help 😊

This is my "put up" desk that I have in the living room when I feel like doing a bit of crafting. You can see I am starting a Birthday Card using some years old stash that I have.... starting this card made me realise I need some new stash to grab my interest to help me get going again, so I nipped over to The Range, my old "go to" place for paper pads, I got a couple, you can see them at the right there, but I had hoped to go and have a big haul! not to be unfortunately, they didn't seem to have the choice they used to have years ago so I need to find a new source for patterned paper pads.... I've had a quick look online but it looks like there are so many more brands now I'm not sure where to start!!!!

Thanks for taking a look, I'm heading over to Julia's to have a peek at some desks now, have a great day!

It's good to meet you April. I have only been blogging since 2015 so we haven't met before. The Works have quite a good range of patterened papers in different sizes and you can order online and pick up at your local branch. I do like the card you are working on - it works really well. Stay safe, happy WOYWW. Sarah #5

Hiya April, I remember you - how lovely to see you back on the desks again! I am a very newbie card maker after mainly doing fabric/yarn stuff, I’ve found quite a few bits and pieces in The Range (also a big fan of their huge pots of mixed herbs and curry powder too!)
Hope you have fun mooching around the desks today, hope to see you next week!

It’s nice to meet you April, I am quite a newbie here (2 years !). The best thing I find for lack of mojo is either a sort through (craft rooms always need a sort through!) or slap some gesso onto a background, if gesso is not your thing, do some cutting out. I didn’t think the Range had as good a selection as they used to. I have got some nice pads at B&M if you have one near you. Whereabouts are you in the U.K.?
Have a great week, Angela #9

Well, we must have crossed our paths 8 years ago but my memory is not what it used to be - old age! So welcome back - nice to have you back in the fold. Stick with us and I am sure you will find some inspiration and get going again.
I agree, the Range does not have the same selection it used to, neither does Hobbycraft, try Home Bargains and The Works for some cheap things to get you going again - from time to time they come up with something good.
I get emails from Craftworld daily and sometimes they have some great ideas and links - well worth getting them on board. Try them.
In the meantime, you are working well - that is a lovely card you have on your desk.
See you next week - `Hugs, Neet 10 xx

Hi April, welcome back great to meet you. I buy most of my stash on-line these days my favourite places are That's Crafty, Stampers Grove, Seven Hills and Craft Stash though recently I've also been shopping at Hobbilicious for MDF and moulds. Hope they help you a bit and I'm sure you;ll find lots of inspiration around the group. Wishing you a very happy woyww. Hugs, Angela x14x

Welcome back, April! I remember you! I decided to go way back on my old blog to see exactly when I joined WOYWW and realise I've just passed my 10th anniversary without even noticing - I joined in July 2011 for issue number 111! So nice that you've come back, and for what a lovely reason, too, to enourage your inspiration and get your mojo back. I do hope all our desks have inspired you. There's nothing like a bit of stash-retail therapy, is there - we were in the Range the other day too (where I bought my baskets) and I was tempted by some of their paper pads too. The one you chose is so pretty - love the delicate pastel shades, and the card you have made is beautiful.

Thank you for your visit. Yes, it's been a rough few years for me health-wise but I'm still here and still smiling. The good news from my appointment this morning is that I don't have to have chemo, but the other treatments are going to be pretty darned unpleasant by the sound of it.

I'm glad you like the new storage. Since you were last on WOYWW we've moved house and I've got a beautiful room now. I was interested in what you said about cheaper unbranded dies not being so sharp - I didn't realise that.

Happy WOYWW,
Shoshi #11-ish - can't access Julia's blog at the moment because it's being blocked by Norton.

Gracious April, there you are! nice to see you, great to read that you are still crafting even if now and then. My local Range branch is a good source for pads, and I’m told it’s the smallest branch in the chain! I once did a demo at one in Cribbs a causeway at Bristol, it was a mega store by comparison! I tend to buy small pads from scrapbook shop websites like Hey a little Magpie, there are loads out there, as I’m sure you will have found! Anyway, doesn’t matter how old the stash is as long as you like it!

Welcome April, good to see you! I joined Julia years ago and joined in weekly - which brought me a lot of inspiration (and new friends!) but when I got a job my posting became irregular... but I still try to be present and visit the deskers from time to time. I don't know much about the (online) stores to go to since I live in the Netherlands... hope other deskers can give you some tips. Today is sunny and bright overhere in the Netherlands and I hope your day/week is the same! Thanks for stopping by my blog yesterday, it was good to 'see' you! Hug from Holland! Marit #7

I was away for about 6 years, maybe longer, and the first thing I did was to go check see, if Stamping Ground was still stamping, and it was! Not so busy because I think alot of people were having a crafty rest. Good to have you back! Had trouble connecting to Julia's blog this week so, Happy very late woyww, Stay Safe!
